Why You Should Consider Installing a Ductless Heating System

If you’re in the market for a new home heating system this winter, you’re probably going to be tempted to just go with the same system type that you had last time. While inertia is a common factor in deciding what heating system you should go with, we would encourage you to consider the advantages of other systems. Ductless heating, for example, has a great many unique advantages to offer. Let’s take a look at ductless heating, and the benefits you could get from it.

Ductless Heating

A ductless heating system is, as you might imagine, a heating system that doesn’t use ducts. Up to 4 indoor units are connected to a single outdoor unit by conduits of power and refrigerant lines. When in heating mode, the outside unit evaporates refrigerant to absorb heat from the outside air. It then sends that refrigerant gas inside to be condensed, in order to release the heat into the home. Because ductless heating systems are heat pumps, they can change the flow of refrigerant through their systems to act as both heating and air conditioning systems.

Advantages of Ductless Heating

Since ductless heating systems are heat pumps, they don’t burn any sort of fuel to generate heat. This automatically makes them more energy efficient than traditional heating systems. Since each air handler in the system is equipped with its own thermostat, you can also set an ideal temperature for each room without affecting the rest of the house. This helps make the system more efficient, and makes the rest of the home more comfortable as well. These are just a couple of the advantages you can garner from installing a ductless heating system.
